What is the PYPX?

The PYP Exhibition is the culminating, collaborative experience in the final year of the PYP and is a celebration of the transition from PYP to Secondary School. It is an authentic process for students to explore, document and share their understanding of an issue or opportunity of personal significance and is a demonstration of student agency.

Each exhibition is different, but all exhibitions are:

Student-initiated: Students chose their issue or opportunity; developed their own central ideas and lines of inquiry; and identified the concepts that guided their inquiries.

Student-designed: They documented and self-assessed their learning.

Collaborative: Students worked in groups, partners, and individually. They also worked closely to collaborate and draw on the expertise of teachers, mentors and experts.

Throughout this process, the students used and demonstrated the ATLs (Approaches to Learning), co-constructed success criteria and self-assessed their learning. They were required to be academically honest, for example, when constructing their bibliographies or reference lists. They also needed to develop self-management skills, which were vital for remaining on task throughout their learning journey.

Furthermore, students developed their knowledge and understanding through inquiry, by selecting and using a variety of strategies and resources to develop their inquiries, e.g. first-hand experiences, interviews, surveys, artifacts, investigations, working models,  and by summarising their learning in their own words and drawing conclusions.

OUR TRANSDISCIPLINARY THEME

HOW WE ORGANISE OURSELVES

An inquiry into the interconnectedness of human-made systems and communities; the structure and function of organizations; societal decision-making; economic activities and their impact on humankind and the environment.

Using this as a starting point, our students then wrote their own central ideas, using their chosen focal point.
